Samaria Gorge - Full-Day Tour

The Samaria gorge is the longest one in Europe.

The Samaria Gorge is the most popular walk of Crete Island and a great example of beauty of Cretan nature. The gorge is located at the south of Chania Prefecture in southwest Crete. It was created by a small river flowing off the White Mountains (Lefka Ori). The gorge is 13 km long, starting at an altitude of 1,250m at the northern entrance, and ending at the shores of the South Cretan Sea in Agia Roumeli. It is the nicest and the most impressive mountain region of Crete.

Choose the long option, where you will trek for approximately 6-7 hours or the easy option, where you will hike for around 4.5-5 hours. Both choices will give you time to enjoy lunch in a typical tavern and swimming in the Lybian Sea.

The activity starts around 5.20am - 6.10am from Chania areas with a pick-up. You will arrive to your destination around 7am and after a breakfast you will have the chance to photo-shoot the entrance of the gorge and admire the creation of the nature. The hiking escort will give you all necessary instructions to enter the gorge with the rest of the group.

After that, the driver will take you to the small village of Sougia, where you will embark on the boat to reach the village of Agia Roumeli. You can walk until the exit of the gorge, to the “Iron Gates” or swim and have lunch there until you meet with the rest of the group. You will arrive in Chania around 8.30pm.

Our activity starts at 05:30 in the morning from Heraklion areas with a pick up point close to your hotel or your hotel.

At the end of the path, you will find the village of Agia Roumeli, where people can swim, relax at the beach, or find a tavern to have lunch within full view of the Mediterranean Sea.
