Excursion to Certosa di Padula

At the arranged hour, our team will meet you at your accommodation in Ascea. Following this, we will embark on a bus ride to one of Southern Italy's most remarkable Baroque monumental sites. The magnificent Certosa di Padula is ready to be explored!

Upon arrival, you will be amazed by the vastness of this monastery, officially known as the Certosa di San Lorenzo. In terms of size, it stands as the second largest after the Grande Chartreuse located in Grenoble, France!

We will begin our exploration by appreciating the stunning Baroque entrance before venturing inside the sacred structure to uncover its various sections. You will explore the church and the chapels of the Carthusian order, visit the remarkable Capitolio room, the library adorned with a Vietrese ceramic-tiled floor, and the refectory, a space that still reverberates with the contemplative spirit of the Carthusian monks.

Additionally, we will be awestruck by the Great Cloister of the Padula Charterhouse, which stretches over 15,000 square meters, making it the largest cloister globally!

Concluding our visit, we will make our way back to Ascea, returning you to your hotel to finish this four-hour excursion on a delightful note.
