Matera Excursion

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Ascea and board a bus to Matera. Upon arrival, we will walk through the historic center of Matera, one of the oldest in the world. We will explore the Sassi di Matera, areas carved into the rocky landscape of the Murgia Materana, which have been inhabited since the Paleolithic era.

We will visit the districts of Sasso Barisano and Sasso Caveoso to discover the highlights of this World Heritage city. The guided tour will include the Church of Santa Chiara, the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi, and the Cathedral of Matera, notable for their Apulian Romanesque style.

After the guided portion, participants will have free time to enjoy the local cuisine and lunch on their own. Additionally, you can choose to visit some of Matera's rock churches (not included), such as the Church of San Pietro Barisano, the Church of Santa Maria di Idris, and the Church of Santa Lucia alle Malve.

At the end of the tour, we will return to the bus for departure, concluding the excursion twelve hours after the start.
