On this private tour of Caltagirone, we'll explore the city known for its ceramics and Baroque and Art Nouveau monuments.

Description

We'll meet at the entrance of Caltagirone's Public Garden at the specified time. This garden features Art Nouveau elements like an Arab-style stage and the Belvedere Theater.

The tour proceeds past the Museo della Ceramica and along the main street to Caltagirone's historic heart, where the Tondo Vecchio, an 18th-century monument for open-air performances, is located.

Next, we will walk across the San Francesco Bridge, characterized by its five arches and local ceramic vases. This bridge links two hills of the town, built in the 17th century.

Continuing through the streets, we'll admire the Baroque and Art Nouveau churches and palaces, ending at the Cathedral of San Giuliano, notable for its 48-meter bell tower and majolica dome. Inside are frescoes depicting Old Testament scenes and Baroque woodwork.

Nearby is the Piazza del Municipio, surrounded by structures such as the neoclassical Palazzo dell'Aquila and the former Palazzo Senatorio, which houses the Luigi Sturzo Gallery.

Lastly, we will visit the Santa Maria del Monte staircase, built in the 17th century, featuring 142 steps adorned with colorful ceramic tiles, which serves as a focal point during the Infiorata and Patron Saint festival.

The tour concludes at this iconic location, approximately 2 hours after starting.
