From the Carthaginians to the Romans, and from Muslims to Christians, explore the cultural heritage left by various civilizations in Carmona through a visit to two of its most iconic landmarks within the "Bright Star of Europe".
Carmona Church & Alcazar Tour
Join us at 11 am at the Plaza Blas Infante, located adjacent to the Puerta de Sevilla. Our adventure begins as we delve into the ancient defensive system that has shielded this city since its inception during Carthaginian times.
We'll enter the impressive Alcazar de la Puerta de Sevilla, known as "de Abajo", a stunning Moorish fortress. From the summit of its Tower of Gold, panoramic views of the entire city await us. Following that, we will pause at the Patio de los Aljibes to admire a remarkable medieval cistern carved into the rock, historically crucial for supplying water to the Alcazar's inhabitants.
Our journey will continue to the Iglesia de Santa María, an outstanding representation of Gothic-Renaissance architecture, constructed atop the remnants of the former Great Mosque of the city.
After two enriching hours, our exploration of Carmona's remarkable cultural legacy will come to a close.
