Certosa di Padula Tour

After pickup at your hotel in Palinuro, we'll travel by bus to Padula, a town in Salerno and home to the Charterhouse of San Lorenzo, known as the Certosa di Padula. Ready to explore this religious complex?

Upon arrival, we will observe the Baroque façade of the monastery, declared a World Heritage Site in 1998. Our guide will explain the Carthusian rule and its influence on the architectural structure of the charterhouse.

We'll explore the contemplative areas such as the chapels and church, showcasing the polychrome decorations of the altars and 16th-century choirs. The tour includes spaces dedicated to work, including the laundries, kitchen, and library of the Reggia del Silenzio (Palace of Silence), highlighted by the marble spiral staircase.

We will also visit the famous cloisters, particularly the Great Cloister from the late 18th century. Covering 15,000 square meters and surrounded by a portico with 84 arches, it ranks among the largest cloisters globally.

After a four-hour excursion, we will return to the hotels in Palinuro to conclude the experience.
