Vezzeno Gorge Tour

At the selected time, we'll meet at the entrance of Gropparello Castle, which marks the start of a nature trail leading us to the Vezzeno Gorge, an impressive canyon formed by the Vezzeno stream.

We will walk along the ancient patrol paths from the castle to the bottom of the cliff, where the Vezzeno stream flows. The guide will share insights about this unique territory featuring the dark mass of ophiolite, contributing to a distinctive landscape.

In this wooded area, we will visit the Museo della Rosa Nascente (Museum of the Rising Rose), which features 17 rose gardens. This tour will allow us to explore the connection among various species in the local flora, including white privets, maritime pines, and imperial maples.

Next, we will proceed to the Limonaia, home to the Sala dei Fossili (Fossil Room), showcasing fossilized remains of animals and plants from the Upper Jurassic period.

After an hour and a half of exploration, we will conclude the guided tour of the Vezzeno Gorge and bid farewell to our guide.
