Embark on a journey to the Certosa di Padula and explore one of the most remarkable Baroque structures found in southern Italy!
Certosa di Padula Tour
After gathering at your chosen rendezvous point, we will head towards Padula, which is home to the stunning Certosa di San Lorenzo, a significant monastery that achieved World Heritage status in 1998. Are you prepared to uncover its wonders with the guidance of an expert?
Upon arrival at the religious site, widely recognized as the Padula Charterhouse, we will begin by admiring its striking Baroque façade. This architectural style predominates the structure, despite the monastery's construction beginning in the 14th century.
Following that, we will step into the monastic grounds to explore various areas—there are an astonishing 350 rooms within this complex! Among its many highlights is the renowned Great Cloister, which dates back to the late 18th century and spans 15,000 square meters.
As part of our guided tour of the Carthusian Monastery of Padula, we will visit not only the chapels and church, where stunning frescoes from the 16th and 18th centuries await, but also essential workspaces like the laundries, cellars, and kitchen. Surrounded by this historic environment, visualizing the daily existence of the Carthusian monks becomes an easy task!
Eventually, we will make our way back to Pisciotta, where we will ensure your safe return to your hotel or designated meeting point after an enriching four-hour excursion.
