Paestum Exploration

Upon gathering at your designated meeting point, we'll travel by minibus to the archaeological site of Paestum, where the iconic Doric temples honoring Hera and Athena await your discovery.

Upon our arrival in Paestum, we will stroll through the archaeological park to uncover its rich history. Did you know that this city of Magna Graecia was originally established as Poseidonia in homage to Poseidon? Our first stop will be the Temple of Hera I, an impressive Doric temple dating back to 550 BC, dedicated to the goddess of family and fertility.

Next, we will explore the Temple of Neptune, also referred to as the Temple of Hera II, recognized as the largest temple within Paestum. Subsequently, our itinerary will lead us to the Temple of Athena, a more modest structure formerly known as the Temple of Ceres.

Following our exploration of the ancient ruins, we will proceed to the park's museum, where we will delve into the extensive collection of artifacts unearthed from Paestum's excavations. This includes pottery, weaponry, richly decorated tombstones, and burial items from the Greek and Lucanian necropolis, unveiling a true historical and artistic gem!

Moreover, we will take time to appreciate the renowned frescoes from the extraordinary Tomb of the Diver. These remarkable funerary panels are unique in their own right, representing the only surviving instance of Greek pictorial art featuring figurative scenes.

After four enriching hours of discovery, we will make our way back to Pisciotta, returning you to your original meeting point.
