On this exploratory excursion through Thessaloniki, immerse yourself in the rich history of Greece's second-largest city as we stroll along its vibrant streets and unveil its key landmarks.

Tour Overview

We will convene at the scheduled time in front of the Electra Palace Thessaloniki hotel, where our adventure in Thessaloniki begins, exploring one of Greece's most significant cities.

Our first stop will be the iconic White Tower, a renowned symbol of the city. This structure was once a part of the fortifications, demolished in 1866, serving both as a defensive lookout and a prison due to its coastal positioning.

Continuing our journey, we will visit the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, erected in 1973 as a homage to the city’s legendary historical figure. This remarkable statue, depicting the former King of Macedonia, reaches a height of 6 meters (19 feet) and is elevated on a 5-meter (15 feet) tall marble base.

As we delve into the past, we will pass the towering OTE Tower, standing at a remarkable 76 meters (249 feet) tall, crucial for telecommunications. Our exploration will also lead us to the ancient remnants of the Palace of Galerius, the Arch of Galerius, and the ancient Roman Forum, revealing their historical significance.

We will conclude our visit by exploring the Byzantine churches of Acheiropoietos and San Demetrio. The latter is recognized as part of the Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki, designated a World Heritage Site in 1988.

Our tour will wrap up back at the original meeting point, approximately two hours after we commence.
